PRS Tekton Imperial Topaz

The PRS Tekton is the hardtail model of the new Tekton family from PRS Guitars. It is built for players who want precision, consistency and a direct connection to the instrument, with a modern spec sheet: 25.5″ scale length, 24 stainless steel jumbo frets, a 16″ fretboard radius and the thin Modern “D” neck carve that defines every Tekton.

This guitar is finished in Imperial Topaz with a natural satin maple neck. The body has a figured mango top on a mahogany back in high-gloss nitro.

PRS Stylus pickups and coil split

The PRS Stylus pickups were developed for the Tekton family. They use Alnico 5 magnets and have a flatter, lower output than many high-gain humbuckers (around 13k treble and 11k bass DC resistance), which keeps notes clear under gain and makes them work well with both tube amps and digital modelers. The push/pull tone control splits the coils, giving six usable sounds from the 3-way blade switch.

The controls are simple: one volume, one push/pull tone and a 3-way blade switch. That makes the guitar easy to dial in on stage or at home.

Bridge and tuning

The PRS Hardtail bridge has individual saddles for precise intonation and a string-through design for resonance and sustain. Combined with PRS Phase III locking tuners, it gives a stable, straightforward setup for players who prioritise tuning stability.

Neck and playability

The bolt-on maple neck has hormigo strength rods for stability and resonance, an ebony fretboard with offset dot inlays and blue Luminlay side dots. String spacing matches the PRS Silver Sky and Fiore, slightly wider than traditional PRS spacing. The body has an exaggerated scoop for upper-fret access and a belly carve.

Who is this guitar for?

  • Players who want a hardtail guitar with a straightforward, stable setup.
  • Guitarists who play through both tube amps and digital modelers.
  • Players who like a thin neck shape and easy access to the upper frets.
  • Anyone who wants a made-in-USA PRS with a figured mango top.

As with any guitar, the best way to judge neck shape and string spacing is to play it. Our showroom in Hilversum lets you compare the Tekton range in person.
