Active or passive: one bass, two ways to play

The preamp on/off switch is the key feature of this bass. With the preamp on, the 4-band EQ lets you shape the low end, low mids, high mids and treble. With it off, you get a passive Jazz bass setup that is controlled with volume, balance and master tone.

• Use the active mode when you want more control over your sound with the 4-band EQ.
• Use the passive mode for a more traditional Jazz bass approach.
• The hum-cancelling Tesla pickups are designed to keep noise down.

Choosing a 5-string Jazz bass

A 5-string bass adds an extra string to the familiar Jazz bass layout. When you compare models, check the scale length, nut width and string spacing, because these affect how the neck feels under your hand. On this bass, the 34″ scale, 45 mm nut width and 19 mm string spacing are listed below, so you can compare them with other instruments. If possible, try the bass in our showroom in Hilversum.
