Using a flanger pedal
A flanger works well on clean tones for shimmering movement, and on overdriven or distorted sounds for a more dramatic, jet-like sweep. Many guitarists place modulation effects after their drive pedals and before delay or reverb, but it is worth experimenting to find the order that suits your rig and your style.
Start with gentle settings and increase the effect gradually. Small amounts of flanging add depth to chords and arpeggios, while stronger settings suit solos and special moments in a song.
