PRS Tekton SVN Fuchsia Aura

The PRS Tekton SVN is the 7-string model of the new Tekton family and the first 7-string in the PRS USA catalog. It has a 26.5″ scale length for extra string tension and low-end clarity, 24 stainless steel jumbo frets, a 16″ fretboard radius and a Modern “D” SVN neck carve.

This guitar is finished in Fuchsia Aura with a black satin neck. The body has a figured mango top on a mahogany back in high-gloss nitro.

Stylus pickups

The PRS Stylus SVN pickups were developed for the Tekton family. They use Alnico 5 magnets and have a flatter, lower output than many high-gain humbuckers (around 13k treble and 11k bass DC resistance), which keeps notes clear under gain and makes them work well with both tube amps and digital modelers. The push/pull tone control splits the coils, giving six usable sounds from the 3-way blade switch.

Bridge and tuning

The 7-string PRS Hardtail bridge has individual saddles for precise intonation and a string-through design for resonance and sustain, paired with PRS Phase III locking tuners.

Neck and playability

The bolt-on maple neck has hormigo strength rods for stability and resonance, an ebony fretboard with offset dot inlays and blue Luminlay side dots. String spacing matches the PRS Silver Sky and Fiore, slightly wider than traditional PRS spacing. The body has an exaggerated scoop for upper-fret access and a belly carve.

Who is the Tekton SVN 7-string for?

• Players moving to a 7-string who want a low B string without giving up clarity, thanks to the 26.5″ scale length.
• Guitarists who play through tube amps, digital modelers or both, as the Stylus SVN pickups are described as working well with each.
• Players who want more tonal range from one guitar, using the coil split on the push/pull tone control.
• Guitarists who like a bolt-on maple neck with an ebony fretboard and stainless steel frets.

A 7-string feels different from a 6-string in string spacing, neck width and low-string response, so it is worth playing one before you buy. You are welcome to try the Tekton range in our showroom in Hilversum.
